B-News update ~ April 2023

This is the first edition of our new regular monthly B-News update, keeping you updated on what is happening in the battery recycling space.

In this edition we seek your feedback on the Electric Vehicle Discussion paper released in partnership with the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) and Motor Traders Association of Australia (MTAA; we highlight the importance of B-cycle with a recent battery fire at a recycling facility in Canberra; applications are open for new position with BSC for a Manager of Importer and Retailer Engagement and we share the latest edition of the Waste Management Review which includes an interview with our CEO Libby Chaplin on pages 44-45.

We also spotlight a new Collector in the battery recycling network – SPC Ecycle, and all 100 Community Recycle Centres (CRCs) managed by the NSW EPA are now fully accredited Drop off Points.

Finally, we share details on the Coffs Harbour Waste 2023 conference being held 9-11 May with representation from our CEO Libby Chaplin and Director, Best Practice and Innovation Jade Barnaby who will be participating in a panel discussion on day 3 looking at the challenges of delivering a circular economy. If you are a B-cycle participant and would like to meet up with the B-cycle team at the conference, let us know at contact@bsc.org.au.
